According to reports founding Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell was killed when a gunman opened fire in a Damageplan show in Columbus, Ohio, last night.
The band were reported to be playing when the gunman took to the stage and fired shots at the band and members of the audience. The unnamed man kept firing until police came and shot him dead. Several others were injured including one person being described as “critical”.

Hier soir, lors d’un concert du groupe DAMAGEPLAN à Columbus, en Ohio, un homme a grimpé sur scène, peu après le début du spectacle, et a fait feu tuant quatre personnes dont le guitariste de la formation Darrell ‹ Dimebag Darrell › Abbott. Il aurait également blessé deux autres personnes. Le tireur fou a ensuite été abattu par la police. Il est décompté dans le bilan des morts.
Trois victimes ont été identifiées jusqu’à présent. Outre Darrell, on mentionne les noms de Nathan Bray (23 ans) et Erin Halk (29 ans), des spectateurs qui assistaient au spectacle.
Le tueur a été identifié comme étant Nathan Gale, un homme âgé de 25 ans.
Dimebag Darrell, qui était âgé de 38 ans, et son frère, le batteur Vinnie Paul, étaient auparavant des membres de la formation Pantera.
En février dernier, Damageplan lançait son premier album, un opus intitulé NEW FOUND POWER.
Selon MTV, le tireur aurait marmonné quelque chose sur la séparation de Pantera avant de faire feu plusieurs fois sur Dimebag Darrell.
Damageplan a donné des spectacles à Montréal et à Québec en juin dernier. La formation accompagnait Slayer dans sa tournée.
