Today the truckage company arrived again with a few new goodies. On board were two albums of THISQUIETARMY from Canada – his newest output RESURGENCE and the first vinyl edition of his debut UNCONQUERED. He plays a nice mixture of many different elements of drone, post-rock, post-punk, psychedelic, krautrock, industrial & doom. Those of you who like for example NADJA, BARN OWL or ZOLA JESUS should definitely give it a listen.

THISQUIETARMY - RESURGENCE 2xCd | 2x12’’(+7’’) | MP3

THISQUIETARMY’s newest album RESURGENCE is arguably his most accessible and varied record since his debut album UNCONQUERED. It reveals another step forward into the extension of his signature shoegaze/drone-based compositions, incorporating many different elements of post-rock, post-punk, psychedelic, krautrock, industrial & doom. As a result, RESURGENCE is an eclectic blend of gauzy textures and rhythms, a fresh reconstruction of his unique musical style and personal influences, and an adventurous ride from one end of the drone spectrum to the other. RESURGENCE took 4 years to complete, in between THISQUIETARMY’s previous outputs which have mainly explored the dark ambient/doom-drone realm since the UNCONQUERED sessions. The bonus disc of the CD and the bonus tracks on the LP and 7’’ lay out the amount of compositions that have come through since then. The results can be described as dark, melodic, expansive & engaging dreamscapes. Guests on the album include: Meryem Yildiz (vocals) on the track ‹ Gone to the Unseen ›, Émilie Livernois-Desroches (violin) and Zena Virani (spoken words) appear respectively on the bonus tracks ‹ Ballad of a Shepherdess › and ‹ The Cold Vacancy ›. James Plotkin mastered the record. All the artwork for the album were illustrated by Mandi A. Morgan. For fans of NADJA, ZOLA JESUS, etc.

“Immobilization”, through grandiose “Battlefield Arkestrah” and “The Sun Destroyers”, gloomy “Death of a Sailor”, to closing notes of “Empire”, Eric Quach manages to capture the essence of contemporary alternative guitar experimentation while maintaining disturbing but also captivating aural atmosphere. “Unconquered” presents this musical project as consciously standing among the best artists of this genre, which is symbolized by the guest appearance of AIDAN BAKER. On the other hand, THISQUIETARMY, already on his debut album, looks far into the future and crosses the boundaries, the best sign of which are the clean female vocals of Meryem Yildiz in one of the tracks - something not common in the field of ambient drone guitar music. The end of the year is near and we’re offering the last 2 releases of 2011. Thanks again for your constant support during the past 12 months and the years before. BIRDS OF PASSAGE - HIGHWAYMEN IN MIDNIGHT MASKS 10’’ | DIGITAL

In line with the WINTER LADY release, Denovali Records will realize HIGHWAYMENT IN MIDNIGHT MASKS as a 10’’. On the B-side: ‘i have my heart’ and ‘forbidden love’, a collaboration with prolific artist AIDAN BAKER (NADJA, INFINITE LIGHT LTD). The track juxtaposes Alicia’s harsh distorted guitars, with an ethereal flute drone courtesy of Baker. This unassuming contrast of polar opposites has visceral consequences: Alicia’s signature vocals sit on top, telling a story of a dark love affair, while Baker’s vocal sits below - reduced to an ambient texture. In line with the WINTER LADY release, Denovali Records will realize HIGHWAYMENT IN MIDNIGHT MASKS as a 10’’. On the B-side: ‘i have my heart’ and ‘forbidden love’, a collaboration with prolific artist AIDAN BAKER (NADJA, INFINITE LIGHT LTD). The track juxtaposes Alicia’s harsh distorted guitars, with an ethereal flute drone courtesy of Baker. This unassuming contrast of polar opposites has visceral consequences: Alicia’s signature vocals sit on top, telling a story of a dark love affair, while Baker’s vocal sits below - reduced to an ambient texture. We’ve just repressed another 200 copies of the MOUSE ON THE KEYS - SEZESSION 10’’+Cd. It’s the last repress we’re doing of this release for a long time or maybe forever? It’s available on ultraclear w/ black and white splatter.

MOUSE ON THE KEYS – SEZESSION 10’’+Cd repress

Mouse on the Keys is a jazzy instrumental trio from Tokyo, Japan. They partly used to play in « Nine Days Wonder » (a leading band of the Japanese post-rock scene) some years ago: Akira Kawasaki (drum, keyboards) and Atsushi Kiyota (piano, keyboards), along with Daisuke Niitome (piano, keyboards), who has played drums and composed music for jazz-funk/hiphop bands. The unique sound of the band’s drums, two pianos and two keyboards combines the urgent '90s American posthardcore with early/contemporary classical, jazz and various electronic dance music. At their concerts, the band projects a variety of images chosen to match their soundviews of Tokyo, geometric symbols, 3D objects, and abstractions. Residents of Tokyo, the members of Mouse on the Keys bring the haunting restlessness of their home city to their live appearances. They even will transform a venue in Germany or France into a kind of virtual Tokyo. “The drums are fantastic, the piano smooth and the other instruments masterfully used to make this record 22 minutes of bliss; it’s great to see that a band is able to live up to the amazingly awesome fusion that jazz and post rock entails in my head. I give this EP 10/10, which I don’t do very often at all so, for the love of god, check out this album.”

Happy new year everyone.

We’re glad to announce that three new sophisticated works are available for preorder now.

The first one is the new album called MUSIQUE DE NUIT of LES FRAGMENTS DE LA NUIT. It features their first unreleased recordings garnished with several brand new written pieces. Most of you already should know them because of the first two releases via denovali – if you didn’t recognize them yet and if you like Arvo Pärt, Steve Reich, Philipp Glass or Yann Tiersen and Olafur Arnalds you should risk an ear or two. It’s available on vinyl, cd and digitally via the denovali mp3 shop.

The two further ones are new releases of PETRELS. We’re releasing his stunning debut album HAELIGEWIELLE (previously released as a very limited cd version) now on vinyl and cd (with a brand new packaging). With HAELIGEWIELLE he just made it to several top of 2011 lists (#6 at Fluid Radio; #7 out of 100 at The Silent Ballet and the song ‹ ‹ Concrete › › at #5 in The Silent Ballet Top Songs of 2011 list). Fans of Tim Hecker or Fennesz should love Petrels.

In order to play their pieces on stage, they decided to set up a quintet made up of three violins, a cello and a piano.Their first two albums released in 2008 (Musique Du Crépuscule) and 2010 (Demain C’etait Hier), has been greeted with great fervor, and fascinated audiences in festivals such as the prestigious Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig (DE), Summer Darkness in Utrecht (NL) or Denovali Swingfest in Essen (DE). With their music, which ranges from tragic to epic and atmospheric, Les Fragments de la Nuit crossed musical borders.

The French ensemble have kept faithful to their trademark style, in which pulsing piano chords set the pace for the string-work woven by the cellist and the three violinists, haunted by female choirs that surface on occasion. MUSIQUE DE NUIT features newly recorded tracks from the early days as well as brand new pieces. Variety is testimony to the band’s ability to take Contemporary Classical music beyond its typical standards, by adding to this genre other stylistic references, some common to Post-Rock, Pop or even Metal, and thus bringing together elements that recall the works of composers like STEVE REICH, PHILIPP GLASS or ARVO PÄRT with those of formations such as GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, BALANESCU QUARTET or even the sinister cult-band MAGMA.

In Fall 2011 Les Fragments De La Nuit did parts of the trailer music for the movie WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN (feat. TILDA SWINTON).

Haeligewielle is the debut solo record of Oliver Barrett of Bleeding Heart Narrative. It is a swirling cataract of a record, a deluge of beautiful noise and crushing melody, which ebbs and flows beneath the surface. Utilizing bowed strings, bent electronics, found percussion and occasional vocals, the record unfolds over seven tracks and fifty minutes, from the portentous drone of the opening ‘After Francis Danby’ and shimmering ‘Silt’ through the work-song-like ‘Concrete’ and cascading rhythm of ‘Winchester Croydon Winchester’. Haeligewielle tells a forgotten story, buried underneath the stones and water.

Field Rotation was founded 2008 by the electronic music composer and producer Christoph Berg in Kiel, Northern Germany. Experimenting with electronic and classical elements this project combines floating soundscapes with electroacoustic colours to create minimalistic soundtracks renouncing of visualisation but interacting with the listeners emotions and feelings. As a violinist and pianist Christoph combines the synthetic sound engineering with natural sounds to communicate his short acoustic tales and impressions.

The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation is the new alter ego of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, the self-acclaimed ‹ ‹ mutant jazz › › band formed in 2000 by Jason Kohnen (aka Bong-Ra) and Giedon Kiers, and which later evolved into a six-member piece. After years of songwriting and extensive work on the layout we’re finally able to present you the EYE OF TIME s/t debut album. It’s a trilogy with 20 tracks on 3 LPs and 2 Cds. Both formats include a 30 page booklet with one track fitting to each song. All tracks on the record are telling you a specific story dealing with Marc’s life - every picture in the booklet gives you a little hint concerning his view to the world. The stories behind the tracks are dealing with problems of our today’s society just as with his personal fights. He doesn’t present his art with pathos - it’s a clear, minimal mixture of samples, cello elements written and performed by himself, electronic programming. Writing critical music without using platitudes - that’s already a difficult undertaking if you’re doing music supported by words. THE EYE OF TIME realizes a critical approach without any lyrics. Why did he choose this way of expression? The man behind EYE OF TIME - Marc Euvrie - grew up in and was part of the French diy punk and hardcore scene for years. After playing with several bands THE EYE OF TIME is his first solo project - just for the live gigs he invites different friends to perform with him. The song writing process itself wouldn’t work out together with other people -THE EYE OF TIME is Marc Euvrie’s personal reflection of the world - illustrated with his sounds and specific artworks Thomas from Denovali Records worked out together with him. After six years of writing song fragments and two additional years of creating the artwork elements he now presents his self titled debut record consisting of the three parts AFTER US, JAIL and LILY ON THE VALLEY. All tracks on the record are telling you a specific story dealing with Marc’s life - every picture in the booklet gives you a little hint concerning his view to the world. The stories behind the tracks are dealing with problems of our today’s society just as with his personal fight against depression and hopelessness. He doesn’t present his art with pathos - it’s a clear, minimal mixture of samples, cello elements written and performed by himself, electronic programming, loops, drones, piano parts and field recordings. It’s an honest soundtrack of life garnished with hope, resignation and death.

PAN & ME is the solo project of Christophe Mevel (THE DALE COOPER QUARTET) | For Fans Of Max Richter, Fennesz and The Dale Cooper Quartet

On PAAL Christophe Mevel continues the intelligent song writing of the Dale Cooper Quartet with a different approach - the arrangements are not jazz-orientated like those he sets up with the other Dale musicians on the two classics ‹ Parole de Navarre › and ‹ Metamanoir ›. But although the solo work is rather piano- and electronic-driven and contains field recordings, choir sounds and string elements, the experimental and detail orientated method of operation stays the same. The first track “The Lighthouse at Two Lights” for example combines viola melodies in the style of Badalamenti with the hypnotic rhythm of crackles we loved on Oval’s « Systemisch ». “Unalaska” on the other hand evokes through a melodic piano motif reminescent of some abstract works in the series Made To Measure (Hector Zazou, Wim Mertens and Peter Principle). The usage of different other instrumental mix syncopated rhythms and repetitive melodies ends in a ghostly soundtrack for your imaginary film. « A week ago we left Dutch Harbor after spending nine days. This music was recorded between the Makushin Bay & Kashega Bay in February 2010. Our first stop, Makushin Bay, is an old village site. Only some grey wood, a wooden cross and a fallen roof was left of it. We tried to catch crabs with a self-made pot. July brought some summer weather: 12-15 deg C (upper 50s) and a glimpse of sun. However, the clouds didn’t lift so much that we could have seen the mountain tops. The next anchorage, Kashega Bay was a former village too. More junk was left, fallen houses, rusty steel and grey logs. An eagle was sitting on a rusty bed. The next day was even more foggy. The white moist surrounded everything and the landscape vanished. » Pan & Me.

Field Rotation was founded 2008 by the electronic music composer and producer Christoph Berg in Kiel, Northern Germany. Experimenting with electronic and classical elements this project combines floating soundscapes with electroacoustic colours to create minimalistic soundtracks renouncing of visualisation but interacting with the listeners emotions and feelings. As a violinist and pianist Christoph combines the synthetic sound engineering with natural sounds to communicate his short acoustic tales and impressions.

Writing critical music without using platitudes - that’s already a difficult undertaking if you’re doing music supported by words. THE EYE OF TIME realizes a critical approach without any lyrics. Why did he choose this way of expression? The man behind EYE OF TIME - Marc Euvrie - grew up in and was part of the French diy punk and hardcore scene for years. After playing with several bands THE EYE OF TIME is his first solo project - just for the live gigs he invites different friends to perform with him. The song writing process itself wouldn’t work out together with other people -THE EYE OF TIME is Marc Euvrie’s personal reflection of the world - illustrated with his sounds and specific artworks Thomas from Denovali Records worked out together with him. After six years of writing song fragments and two additional years of creating the artwork elements he now presents his self titled debut record consisting of the three parts AFTER US, JAIL and LILY ON THE VALLEY. All tracks on the record are telling you a specific story dealing with Marc’s life - every picture in the booklet gives you a little hint concerning his view to the world. The stories behind the tracks are dealing with problems of our today’s society just as with his personal fight against depression and hopelessness. He doesn’t present his art with pathos - it’s a clear, minimal mixture of samples, cello elements written and performed by himself, electronic programming, loops, drones, piano parts and field recordings. It’s an honest soundtrack of life garnished with hope, resignation and death.

PAN + ME - PAAL Cd | LP

PAN & ME is the solo project of Christophe Mevel (THE DALE COOPER QUARTET) | For Fans Of Max Richter, Fennesz and The Dale Cooper Quartet

On PAAL Christophe Mevel continues the intelligent song writing of the Dale Cooper Quartet with a different approach - the arrangements are not jazz-orientated like those he sets up with the other Dale musicians on the two classics ‹ Parole de Navarre › and ‹ Metamanoir ›. But although the solo work is rather piano- and electronic-driven and contains field recordings, choir sounds and string elements, the experimental and detail orientated method of operation stays the same. The first track “The Lighthouse at Two Lights” for example combines viola melodies in the style of Badalamenti with the hypnotic rhythm of crackles we loved on Oval’s « Systemisch ». “Unalaska” on the other hand evokes through a melodic piano motif reminescent of some abstract works in the series Made To Measure (Hector Zazou, Wim Mertens and Peter Principle). The usage of different other instrumental mix syncopated rhythms and repetitive melodies ends in a ghostly soundtrack for your imaginary film. « A week ago we left Dutch Harbor after spending nine days. This music was recorded between the Makushin Bay & Kashega Bay in February 2010. Our first stop, Makushin Bay, is an old village site. Only some grey wood, a wooden cross and a fallen roof was left of it. We tried to catch crabs with a self-made pot. July brought some summer weather: 12-15 deg C (upper 50s) and a glimpse of sun. However, the clouds didn’t lift so much that we could have seen the mountain tops. The next anchorage, Kashega Bay was a former village too. More junk was left, fallen houses, rusty steel and grey logs. An eagle was sitting on a rusty bed. The next day was even more foggy. The white moist surrounded everything and the landscape vanished. » Pan & Me.

Hello everyone.

Time for some nice new food for your ears. Available now is the terrific POVAROVO - TCHERNOVIK debut album. We’re offering it as a limited 2xLP, on cd and digitally. The vinyl version is limited to 100 copies on black w/ grey haze (almost sold out) and 200 copies on black. All of you who like BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE or THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE should risk a listening.

Out now as well are 2 limited releases of LENTO and LOGS. Since the Lento one is a live record and since the band Logs doesn’t exist anymore we won’t repress both (also no reprint of the Lento cd) - so it’s first come first serve. We’ve added three songs of each artist to the streaming pages.

LENTO - LIVE RECORDING 08.10.2011 Cd|LP|MP3

LENTO’s first album EARTHEN has received great attention and rave reviews, so their long-awaited second album had to be confronted with high expectations - these expectations are easily met and exceeded by ICON. The foundations for ICON had been laid during two years of intense touring in Europe. In this time, LENTO have started to develop a more chaotic and restructured songwriting. This new level of sound has then been perfected during numerous hard rehearsels in the touring period, and has been deepened in a period of one year, which LENTO spent isolated in their home-based studio. In that year, LENTO managed to cast the molten outcome of their creative process into ten new songs. On ICON, LENTO explore a new range of emotions and feelings, and build up a very deep and dark universe driven by their usual postcore fury. Already with EARTHEN, LENTO convinced their listeners by being one of the most overwhelming and mind-blowing bands of today. On ICON, the song structures have been particularly developed to repeat and strongly strengthen this impression. The « Live Recording 08.10.2011 » record compiles tracks of both successful records and transports the energy of a LENTO live gig on wax. For fans of MARE, early CULT OF LUNA, OMEGA MASSIF & SLEEP.

As LOGS started in 2007 the guys directly got a more than just solid feedback in the american DIY scene. Not surprising that their debut 7’’ was sold out after a few weeks. Sadly the band just played a couple of gigs on the east coast and just recorded these further 8 tracks. To make sure that the band won’t be forgotten denovali decided to release the 2nd recording session as well - 4 years after the hiatus of the band - but still better than a lot of bands around. « If you like shotmaker, the red scare, cap’'n jazz and old engine down, you will definitely love logs. but yeah, even if you never ever have read the above names you will most likely like them right from the start. » With Alex from KIDCRASH on guitar and vocals.

Since the BERSARIN QUARTETT will release the new full length II next month, since the regular version of the s/t debut vinyl version is sold out and since a lot of people really love the cover artwork of this record we’ve decided together with Mr. Bersarin to repress another 250 copies of the 2xLP as a limited picture disc edition.

This time we also would like to present you 2 further new denovali artists. It’s SAFFRONKEIRA - an electronic sound artist from Italy. Already known because of his performances at the Störung festival in Barcelona and a remix he did for Charles-Eric Charrier he will release his first solo EP in May and the first album in July via Denovali Records. After HEIRS we now have the 2nd Australian band on board: A DEAD FOREST INDEX. We’ll release their debut EP called Antique in July and the debut album in September.
