FRIDAY APRIL 18 – VILLAGE UNDERGROUND LONDON

Porter Ricks (GER)
::: Sound project and live performance by German producers Thomas Köner & Andy Mellwig. The name Porter Ricks is based on character from the TV series « Flipper ». « The nautical view evokes a clear vision, something freeing. The club as a diving platform, and techno as a nautical sound experience, a project that lies between clubs and art. »
::: « Many of these ideas have permeated so deeply into the culture that it’s hard to remember a time without them, but we wouldn’t have Burial, to name just one of the duo’s distant descendants, without Porter Ricks’ seafloor crackle and mottled-granite color scale. » Pitchfork (8.5/ 10)

The Haxan Cloak (UK)
::: „Excavation gains power from gathering a little dust for a while, becoming a dark treat to occasionally sink into. It’s not a place in which to seek refuge from life’s ills, but rather one in which you can satisfy a perverse need to draw them in closer.“ (Pitchfork)

Anna von Hausswolff (SWE)
::: « It feels big, the way the Cure’s « Plainsong » or Zola Jesus’ Conatus felt. » (Pitchfork)

Hidden Orchestra (UK) + Lumen (UK) (special AV concert)
::: special AV concert with a video installation by Lumen
::: cinematic soundscapes with a big sound and wonderful string arrangements; 2 drummers + piano + bass + violin
::: listen: www.denovali.com/hiddenorchestra

Ulrich Schnauss (GER)
::: one of the most fascinating ambient+electronica producers of today
::: listen: www.soundcloud.com/ulrich-schnauss

Witxes (FRA)
::: Roaming, roving and raving were giving birth to melodic spaces fed on colourful sound layers, shimmering textures and residual traces of sonic instants
::: listen: www.denovali.com/witxes

John Lemke (GER)
::: Using all kinds of interesting methods of sound design, Lemke fused a myriad of ideas and atmospheres into a unique whole that is stimulating, elegant, and edgy just in the right places. (…) This is refreshing music. One of the very best of 2013, no doubt. (Igloomag)

SATURDAY APRIL 19 – CAFE OTO

Thomas Köner (GER)
::: Over his long, much celebrated career, he has worked on several distinguished installation works, sound art and minimal soundscapes.

Piano Interrupted (UK)
::: « there are nods to minimalism, film scores and cinematic soundscapes, glitch and ambient, post-rock, neo-classical piano and jazz… »
::: listen: www.denovali.com/pianointerrupted

Origamibiro (UK)
::: Origamibiro like to create work with an array of unorthodox processes and contraptions, found objects, video feeds and multi instrumentalism. Their aim is to create works of texture, lyricism and intensity.
::: listen: www.denovali.com/origamibiro

Petrels (UK)
::: « A swirling cataract of a record, a deluge of beautiful noise and crushing melody, which ebbs and flows beneath the surface. »
